Melbourne weather is unpredictable at the best of times. When I landed in Melbourne from Sydney early on the morning of the wedding it was sunny and warm. This was ideal as it was an outdoor ceremony in the botanic gardens. It remained sunny on my drive from the airport to the city where the bride was getting ready and I was lulled into a false sense of security. I arrived at the bride's hotel suite and started shooting the preparation photos and, while there was a lively and excited buzz going on inside, outside I could see that a change in the weather had begun.

After all the preparation photos were done I jumped back in the car and drove to the ceremony site at the botanic gardens. Clouds were coming in thick and fast. The first few drops of rain started as I was waiting for the brides car to pull up. Then it stopped. I thought we were in the clear. And we were, til about half way through the ceremony when it let loose. Umbrellas were going up but a bit of rain wasn't going to ruin this ceremony. The reaction from everyone was awesome. Laughing and big smiles. And none bigger than from the bride herself who found it hilarious..  The ceremony continued under umbrellas until the end of the ceremony when the sun came out again. So Melbourne. The rest of the day was brilliant sunshine. Lots of shots after the ceremony in the botanic gardens then a boat ride along the Yarra river to the reception venue.

You can't control the weather but if it does rain, just have a laugh.
